Our History

A Legacy of Service: The History of the Beaumont Woman’s Club

Founded in 1908, the Beaumont Woman’s Club has stood as a pillar of community service and civic pride for over a century. The club’s very first project was the establishment of a public library for the town of Beaumont—a testament to the members’ enduring commitment to education and progress.

In 1914, the club took another bold step by purchasing two lots at the corner of Sixth and Euclid Streets to build a much-needed community center. At the time, the club had only $50 in its treasury and an 1894 Steinway piano. Undeterred, the members secured a $3,000 loan, and on May 11, 1917, they proudly dedicated the newly completed center—laying a foundation for generations of civic gatherings and community programs.

The Beaumont Community Center quickly became a cultural and social hub for the region. In the late 1990s, the property was generously donated to the Beaumont-Cherry Valley Recreation and Park District. After significant renovations, it reopened in 2008 and has since hosted many organizations, including the San Gorgonio Pass Historical Society, Table of Plenty, and CAST Players.

Throughout its history, the Beaumont Woman’s Club has supported numerous charitable causes and organizations such as Childhelp, the Boys and Girls Club of the San Gorgonio Pass, Guide Dogs of the Desert, and Winter Wish.

In a proud moment of recognition, the club celebrated the 100th anniversary of the community center with a public event attended by prominent local and state officials, including Congressman Raul Ruiz, Riverside County Supervisor Marion Ashley, Assemblyman Chad Mayes, and Banning City Councilman Art Welch (on behalf of State Senator Mike Morrell). The club was honored with numerous certificates and proclamations acknowledging a century of dedicated service to the Beaumont community.

With a rich history and a forward-looking vision, the Beaumont Woman’s Club continues to be a beacon of volunteerism, leadership, and civic engagement.
